Founded in 1936 by Edith Cleaves Barry, The Brick Store was a dry store inherited from her great-grandfather William Lord, a wealthy local businessman and renowned sea Captain. Completed in 1852, the original Brick Store is the centre of the Museum's Main Street complex which also incorporates five other historical buildings housing over 70,000 pieces concerning the history of the Kennebunks. Focussed on preserving the regional Kennebunkport history, the Museum offers a remarkable insight into the development of the village.
